Links to some projects

Scientists from the Division of Solid State Physics participate in a number of collaborative projects. Below you may find links to some of them:

Ongoing Projects

INDEED - Innovative Nanowire DEvicE Design

INDEED is an Innovative Training Network funded by MSCA (GA No 722176). The project is coordinated by Durham University. Members from Solid State Physics are PhD student Egor Leshchenko and his supervisor Jonas Johansson. The theoretical modelling performed by Egor leads to better understanding of nanowire growth in ternary systems.

Bio4Comp - Parallel network-based biocomputation

Bio4Comp is coordinated by Heiner Linke and funded in the FET-Proactive scheme (GA No 732482). The idea of the project is that biomolecular machines, each only a few nanometers in size, can solve problems by moving through a nanofabricated network of channels designed to represent a mathematical algorithm. The advantage of network-based computing with molecular motors is that it needs hundred to thousand times less energy than electronic computers.

evFoundry - The Extracellular Vesicle Foundry

Extracellular vesicles are under investigation as biomarkers as well as therapeutic agents. The vesicles are natural nanoparticles produced by cells of living organisms. evFoundry members from Solid State Physics are Jonas Tegenfeldt and Bao Dang Ho. Their goal is to develop microfluidic methods for isolating extracellular vesicles. evFoundry is coordinated by CSGI (Italy) and is funded in the FET-Open scheme (GA No 801367).

NFFA-Europe - Nanoscience Foundries and Fine Analysis - Europe

This platform provides access to nanotechnology infrastructures and computing facilities. Interested users can apply to the platform and get access to the facilities of member laboratories. Solid State Physics is represented in this project through Ivan Maximov and the team of the Lund NanoLab with a broad range of methods within lithography and patterning, growth and synthesis as well as characterisation. NFFA-Eruope is coordinated by CNR, Italy and funded under GA No. 654360

Closed Projects

Researchers as Solid State Physics have been quite successful in coordinating EC-funded projects. Here are some examples of closed projects from FP7 and H2020:

PhD4Energy, Nanoscale Materials for Energy: Fundamentals, Applications and Safety, MSCA funded 2014-2018

Nano-Tandem, Nanowire based tandem solar cells, a pathway to highly efficient solar cells with low material use, H2020, 2015-2019

LAPASO, Label-free particle sorting of cells by microfluidic technologies to advance diagnostics for human parasitic diseases and rare cells, MSCA funded 2013-2017

NW4LIGHT, development of high performance light emitting nanowire LEDs, energy-saving high quality illumination, FP7, 2012-2015
